A couple of weeks ago I was invited to the trial week at new Birmingham dining and drinking venue The Lost & Found, and today, a friend and I went there for lunch 3 days before it’s grand opening. The interior is beautifully decadent with vintage inspired touches reflecting the history of the former Victorian bank building and botanical theme of the place.
As well as ordering two zingy gin and vodka based cocktails to try, my friend ordered pan-seared scallops with pancetta salad for her main and I ordered the smoked salmon, capers, cucumber and watercress sandwich with chips. Both meals were deliciously fresh and presented well. The chips were a hit! When looking at the menu beforehand, we simply couldn’t resist trying the lemongrass creme brulee dessert which came with chilli flecked biscuits. The kick of spice went perfectly with the mild creaminess of the brulee. I’ve no doubt The Lost & Found will become a popular independent eating and drinking place in Birmingham once open, especially with such a varied fresh menu, decent prices and in such a stylish setting.
Wow, looks fab. I’ve never heard of it but as an almost-local, I will try it out for sure.
Being coming here for 12 years + and we were so looking forward to seeing the refurbished interior. Me, my wife and our work colleagues were all turned away tonight by the doorman who said that this is now a “high end” establishment and we weren’t coming in. We all felt totally insulted and will never return. We were absolutely astounded at the attitude of the doorman. We all work close by in the Colmore Business Community and will take our custom elsewhere.
Sorry to hear you had this experience. Email escape-@thelostandfound.co.uk FAO Bea and she will be happy to hear from you.

Unfortunately this doesn’t work either, I am going straight to Marstons to complain , Have heard on Facebook multiple similar comments about not being let in for no good reason.
I would definitely recommend going straight to the place itself. Try this new email address, the first one was incorrect… escape@the-lostandfound.co.uk
The food looks delicious and the decoration is amazing, I’d love to have that armchair myself!
Given their licence holder is granted to Marstons PLC* I doubt they’re independent but lovely to be able to see inside before it opens!
