The stained glass window inspired artwork and recycled card digipak I designed for One Step Lantern‘s new album ’5+2′ arrived back from the printers yesterday. Typographic videos that I created for tracks from it can be viewed on their website too. Listen and buy the album here.

One Step Lantern ‘Hope and Light’ Handmade Cards
Over the last few months I’ve been designing for One Step Lantern‘s new album release ’5+2′. I was asked to create a limited collection of hand-cut recycled paper cards to send to music industry folk, radio producers and others potentially interested in hearing the new album. The digipak CD artwork I designed has recently been sent off to the printers so I’ll post the results as soon as they come back.
Edible Brum Magazine
As promised, here are some photos of the Edible Brum Magazine that I recently designed printed on recycled 120gsm Offset. Read the whole magazine online here.
Edible Brum Magazine Logo

Over the past couple of months I’ve been designing a new local food and drink magazine called ‘Edible Brum’ after chatting with Alex Claridge from Birmingham’s best vegetarian eatery The Warehouse Cafe. Alex was inspired to bring out a magazine focused on Birmingham’s great foodie culture. I created a ‘sticker’ inspired logo for the magazine with the idea that it will change colour for each seasonal issue, like the variety of colours in fresh fruits and vegetables. The first issue, Spring, has just been freshly printed and as soon as I get my hands on a copy to photograph I’ll post it up here. A web page and online version will be live soon. (Thanks to the talented Abigail Borg for the beautiful cover illustration!)

Crafty Dutchie Logo
I’ve just completed a bright logo design for Netherlands born tweeter, cyclist and crafter, Renee Van Baar. Renee asked me to create a logo to use mainly on her blog site and online shop where she sells her sewn or knitted fabric items. She made my job extremely easy by giving me a clear idea of what she wanted it to look like – I’m glad to have made it a reality for her!

Hand-Cut Grafika Wrapping Paper for 1973
Completed a special paper cut-out piece for 1973 the other day. Using numerous sheets of their new boldly patterned recycled ‘Grafika’ wrapping paper, my cut-outs will be used to help promote the new range.
Sweet Talk Book Cover
Alex Russon, owner of sweet shop Custard Confectionery, asked me if I would design the cover of his new book ‘Sweet Talk’ – an insider’s look into the events of the first few months of the business. I created the design and title using alphabet candy sweets and a giant lollipop from the shop. The book is £5 and all profits will go directly to local charity Rosie’s Helping Hands.
Dan Whitehouse Album Artwork
Wednesday evening was the launch gig of singer/songwriter Dan Whitehouse‘s new self-titled album at The Glee Club in Birmingham. A few months ago Dan asked me to design his album artwork and logotype for him. We had plenty of creative ideas which led to a sleek vintage 1940′s movie inspired end design, printed on 100% recycled card and finished with a matt varnish. At the launch gig, there was an array of beautiful upcycled vintage fabric sleeves made by Elena Thomas to snuggly hold the CD wallet. The one I picked up was made from a 1970′s fabric.
Days For Girls UK
I have recently been contacted by Days for Girls UK – part of Days For Girls International, who create washable feminine hygiene kits. These kits are then given to girls around the world who without access to proper sanitary solutions, are kept isolated for days during menstruation. They asked me to re-design their logo and create a poster to gain more volunteers. Please contact them if you think you could help by sewing or donating supplies.
{New Design} Shlomo and The Lip Factory EP
I’ve recently designed a bold logotype, EP cover and disc design for UK beatboxer Shlomo and his group of vocal artists, The Lip Factory.
B7Living Magazine Cover Artwork
Recently created this Autumn weather themed cover artwork for local B7Living magazine’s October issue. Apologies for the grainy photograph – will re-shoot when there’s a brighter Autumnal day with fewer grey clouds!
Folk Flower designs
Been creating some mock-up ideas for my ‘Folk Flower’ range of mugs and tea towels today. Getting quite excited at the thought of the designs being in people’s kitchens by the new year!
Wrap Magazine ‘Hot Pots and Pies’
Recently illustrated this bowl of hot tomato soup for Wrap Magazine‘s ‘Hot Pots and Pies’ piece for Issue 3, as one of my favourite things to eat in the winter. Unfortunately, for other reasons, this feature is now no longer going to be in issue 3 but maybe used elsewhere in another issue as the lovely Wrap folk said it “was great, and def one of our favourites!”. Watch this space!
Postcards and Fabric
Excitingly received delivery of One Sugar Please postcards and flowered canvas fabric I designed from Bags of Love. I am so pleased with how they have turned out, and the speed of the service was amazing. Now to decide what to create with the fabric… Considering stretching it to make artwork for the kitchen or a cushion cover. Any other ideas, do comment!

Happy 2nd Birthday Creative Boom
I was more than happy to put together a special 2nd birthday paper-cut banner illustration for Creative Boom‘s website the other day. Katy Cowan runs this creative networking site completely in her spare time and I, along with many others, are listed in the directory and Lookbook pages for free. Thank you for your support Katy aka Creative Boom, and may there be many more birthday celebrations to come!
Amelia’s Magazine: Peacock illustration
I illustrated this peacock to be a central part of an illustration for a review about Larmer Tree festival written by Amelia Gregory for Amelia’s Magazine’s website. I used hand cut paper shapes and scanned buttons to create my peacock.

{New Design} Craft Guerrilla Summer Craft Fair poster
The craft-loving folk at Craft Guerrilla let me loose again to design a poster for their Summer Craft Fair. Creating this design, including my own hand-cut paper illustrations, brought a healthy dash of summeryness into my studio even though it was certainly not BBQ nor beach weather outside.
LUSH Knot-Wrap Design Competition
In March, I blogged my entries to the Knot-Wrap design competition LUSH was wanting entries for. Well I received a phone call this morning to say that I had won, and this rubber duck design is going to be printed and sold in LUSH stores worldwide. This news has made my week! Keep an eye out for it hanging in a LUSH store near you soon! http://www.lush.co.uk/
